History of the Organisation

Photo: Pensive woman. Project Chrysalis is a domestic violence project, which was founded over three years ago due to personal experiences and concerns about the lack of service provision for victims/survivors experiencing domestic violence within our community.

Serious mistakes were being made within the criminal justice system and this needed to be addressed.

Having identified a need for a domestic violence support project, the project's founder recruited a few volunteers, mostly female survivors of domestic violence. They, then, approached Chris Peach, the Director of Eastern Link Cluster Partnership, who invited them to the launch of the Zero Tolerance campaign on domestic violence at Liverpool Town Hall.

The group accepted the invitation and took several other volunteers. At the event, they heard many sad stories from countries all across Europe - many mirroring their own experiences. As a result of this, they came away from the event feeling that there was too much talk and not enough action.

Since that time, they have been even more determined than ever to develop the project.
